First United Methodist Church of Anchorage has may ongoing Mission and Outreach opportunities that everyone can participate in.

Here are a few:

Alaska Families Against Domestic Violence-Drop off journals that we can then take to the AWAIC shelter. Journaling is a way of accelerating personal development by getting your thought out of your head and putting them down on paper; validating your feelings and ideas.

Hungry Tummies-drop off healthy (individually wrapped) snacks that can be given to children the after-school program at one of our local schools. During the summer these snacks will be donated to a variety of other shelters in the Anchorage area.

Welcome Baskets for Alaska Children's Services-ACS is a residential treatment center for both boys and girls ranging from ages 6-19; most if the students are between the ages of 13-17. When a new child enters the center they are presented with a welcome basket. These baskets are constantly needing to be replenished! The items are needed are:

Reusable Water Bottles

Nerf Hoops (over the door)

Small Blank Note Cards (gender neutral colors)

Sock Monkeys

Stuffed Animals

Body Wash (different scents are appreciated; boys prefer Axe or "manly scented" and girls vanilla or "girly scented")

Small Non-Spiral Notebooks (gender neutral colors)

Medium Size Gift Bags

Fleece Blankets

All donations can be dropped off at the church Monday-Friday 9:00-2:00 or Sunday 8:00-12:00.
